Conference Keynote: Workplace Culture in a Work-from-Home World

INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 5, 2020) – With an estimated two-thirds of all Americans having spent more than half a year “temporarily” working remotely, most of them have realized they’re in for a long haul. As such, they’ve accepted that they should ditch the stiff chair, cramped desk and stack-of-books computer stand for something a little more permanent, efficient and comfortable.

Salesforce Vice President Karen Mangia says it’s about time.

“The way you started working from home isn’t what you have to sustain,” Mangia says. “From setting up your virtual office to dealing with conference call fatigue, and from learning new ways to collaborate to realigning your team, organizations can make the most of working from home and even thrive.”

Mangia, a TEDx speaker and author of the new book, Working from Home: Making the New Normal Work for You, will give the keynote address for the 9th annual RESOLVE conference.

Hosted by the Indianapolis benefits and compensation advisory firm First Person Advisors, RESOLVE will be offered virtually and free this year beginning Oct. 7.

RESOLVE Increments will consist of four 90-minute segments offered once every week in October, during which participants will learn from national experts and First Person subject matter experts about trends and innovations.

“Benefits have never been more top of mind than during COVID,” said Mark Minner, First Person president. “Top talent will remember both the positive and the negative responses long after this pandemic is over. First Person is honored to bring national influencers to the virtual table for discussions about the future of healthcare, cost containment, mental health and diversity, equity and inclusion. What better time to bring together the best business minds to discuss how to create meaningful and productive workplaces.”

Mangia will give tips on building new routines, redefining success and inspiring teams from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Oct. 28, to wrap up the four-part RESOLVE Increments series.

Speakers and topics follow.

Oct. 7 – Janet Trautwein, CEO of the National Association of Health Underwriters, will speak on “How the Global Pandemic and Election Year Impact Healthcare.”

Oct. 15 – Dr. Lisa Penney, University of South Florida professor and an award-winning researcher who has spent nearly 20 years studying the causes and consequences of job stress, whose topic is “Manage Stress. Be Resilient. Lead Better.”

Oct. 21 – Angela Smith-Jones, vice president of diversity and inclusion at Health and Hospital Corp. and former Indianapolis deputy mayor, will speak on “Going beyond Diversity & Inclusion to Build an Equitable Team.”
